Post Show Posting
This past week has been a veritable whirlwind! I never did get around to taking pictures of my merchandise - at least, none that were good enough to post. What I have here are photos taken after the fact. The first pic is of my backdrop and one of my display pieces. I needed something that I could hang ornaments on - I have used a tomato cage before, but wanted something other than just a tree shape. I have had the papier mache doll's head for several years (an ebay find) - it is hollow and has a shoulder plate. The hat was one of the group that Susan at Miss Maddie's was kind enough to send me. Thank you, Susan - the white hat was perfect for this! The ruff around his neck was purchased at Tail of the Yak in Berkeley and the mask was scanned from one of my clip art books. The backdrop was a window insert that I painted white and stretched white sheeting on the back. The wonderful sign piece was purchased at Castle in the Air - it's old German pressed paper and was scoped out by my dear sister, Denise, on a recent trip to Berkeley. I designed the name on the computer and enlarged it on a copy machine - then trimmed it out with German glass glitter.
Handborn was a big success. It was held in two of our downtown restaurants - Deva (a coffee house) and Concetta, home of wonderful food and an amazing wine list. I was at Deva - my lack of photographs for the event had to do with Deva being a coffee house with very dim lighting. None of my photos turned out. I'm glad I took a lamp - otherwise, no one would have been able to see any of my things. There was a large turnout - people roamed from one side of the street to the other - there was music, both live and with a DJ. I had some trepidation about participating - I am decidedly older than most of the folk that were represented. But what the heck! It was great to see so many 20 and 30-somethings who have embraced crafting. My booth was next to a young woman from Fresno, Melissa Contreras aka Axelhoney - just darling and extremely talented. She sells her goodies on etsy at Axelhoney Here are some of her works...her attention to detail is amazing!
I was very lucky to once again have my best salesperson with me, my dear daughter - Jessica. She helped me set up, made change, wrapped purchases and made me very happy to have her nearby. I did okay - I don't expect miracles at these events - the exposure is the main thing. I have a few things left that I will be posting in case someone might be interested. I really need to get busy expanding my blog and creating a presence on etsy. Shoot...I need to update the look of my blog and add to my links. There are so many terrific websites out there where I lurk - they deserve to be acknowledged!
I would really like to thank of you out there in Bloglandia - who have continued to visit, even though I haven't had anything new posted for a week. Thank you for checking on me via e-mail; etc. I continue to be just blown away by the support and encouragement my blogging friends offer.
We're entering what I refer to as "hell week" at work. Because I work in advertising, the week before Thanksgiving is incredibly busy. I put in 2 hours overtime today and will probably do the same tomorrow and Wednesday. When Thursday's paper hits local porches it will weigh about 400 lbs. due to the Christmas inserts; etc.! I usually design my first Christmas campaign for an advertiser in August - so by the time Christmas rolls around, I am very tired of holly sprigs and Santa art! It's bedtime...Good Night, Bloglandia!

I've missed you but see you've been quite busy.
A tip of the hat(no pun intended) to your delightful ornament display piece.Lots of room for plenty of luscious little trinkets!
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving! xo Susan
